Using Internet Tools to Gather Evidence of an Infringement – Part 2

As a follow up to my first blog entry on “Using Internet Tools to Gather Evidence of an Infringement,” David Oppenheimer of Performance Impressions provided some more excellent tips:

  • save a text file with the webpage’s source code;
  • save a copy of the full .htm or .html webpage in a sub-folder on your computer;
  • save a text file that includes the URL of webpage and the URL where the image(s) is(are) hosted;
  • do a whois search because some sites may have their information available now but later could subscribe to privacy services; and
  • maybe the most important to add: download and save a copy of the photograph as used on the infringer’s website

Thanks, David!
